Library & Museum

The modern library facility houses an extensive collection of books, research materials, CDs, tapes and periodicals as well as being part of a regional library system.

Library Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm

Friday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Saturday: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm


Onalaska's roots as a lumber mill town are featured in the museum located in the library at 741 Oak Avenue S. The museum houses exhibits that cover thousands of years of area history, from the Ice Age to recent local history. Exhibits change regularly. 


Museum Hours: 

Mondays: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (3rd week in October through March only)

Wednesday: 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Thursday: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Friday: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Saturday: 9:30 am - 12:30 pm


The Onalaska Area Historical Society:

The Onalaska Area Historical Society hosts a program on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Onalaska Library.  The first hour consists of a presentation on a rotating topic, generally given by a guest speaker.  Following the presentation is their monthly business meeting.  The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this monthly presentation/meeting!
